A summer sky.
The pungent scent.
Faded rag ties loosely wrapped
around unwieldy plants.
Vines already bending,
winding a trail,
down to the ground.
The annual ritual of gardening.

Can’t help but wonder at the splendor of the color.
Can’t help but breathe deeper and believe it’s really cooler and fresher,
and life is surely better.
That the magic we’re all chasing is hovering there,
in the soft blurry ancient mounds.
Sweet blue, on blue, on blue color.
